A grade: Vertical grain only, very white color; no knots, no blue stain, no heartwood, no pitch streaks and no decay.
B grade: pitch streaks and reddish wood allowed; no knots, no blue stain, no heartwood, no pitch streaks and no decay.
C grade: sound knots, blue stain and heartwood allowed; no decay, no splits, no worm holes.
