Eco-Green Dominicana is a company devoted to the production of biodiesel and related products. It started operations in 2007 with the honest desire to contribute to the proper recycling of waste materials and to provide a safer way for a better environment in a scaling fuel demanding nation. It is located at the Herrera Industrial Zone of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. It has a production capacity of 24,000 gallons/day, but with space enough to double or triple that capacity. The process by-products are converted to fertilizers, degreasers, soap and liquid soap products. Even the raw matter water soluble phase is turned into an amino acid concentrate. Following the same philosophy, the process water is not dumped, but integrated in some of the secondary products, so the company can be considered as a no-waste facility. The company staff comprises business administrators, industrial engineers and a Ph.D. in aquaculture (with a M.Sc. in environmental affairs) who pioneered the local research on biodiesel from microalgae.
